Animals on BroadwayAnimals on Broadway
Sunday, May 2, 2010

Sunny skies graced ARF’s 10th annual Animals on Broadway in Walnut Creek on Sunday, May 2. Nearly 6,000 people came out to celebrate pets at the free community festival, many of them accompanied by their own four-legged buddies.

SixString kept beat at the courtyard stage as visitors strolled along Broadway Plaza, which was jam-packed with vendor booths lined with pet clothes, pet photographers, pet sitters, animal art, doggie treats, toys, and various gifts for humans. Fifteen non-profit animal rescue organizations added to the mix; several animals were adopted throughout the day.

Pet guardians were drawn to the Pet Wellness Fair, a new feature for 2010 offering a special array of pet-related services and information. A donation to ARF yielded a Pet Passport, treating furry fair-goers to doggie massage, nail trims, weight assessments, blood panel tests, dental exams, Ask the Vet sessions, and more. Micro-chipping and vaccinations were also available at low-cost rates.

At ARF’s People Connect booth, a little face paint transformed children into a variety of creatures. Alan the Amazing roamed the crowd leaving a menagerie of balloon animals in his wake. To top it all off, ARF gave away tons of exciting raffle prizes!

ARF thanks the merchants of Broadway Plaza for their generosity in hosting this event. Their participation - and the friendship and support of Broadway Plaza management, especially Tracy Dietlein and her team - make Animals on Broadway possible. Many ARF volunteers also deserve credit for their incredible efforts – thank you for your help in making this event a success. We look forward to seeing you there next year!

We hope you enjoy this video of the festivities put together by ARF volunteer Bill Grant.

Thanks to all of our sponsors!
