Special Needs Animals
Perhaps you have a special place in your home for a special needs ARF dog or cat? Or perhaps you have a special place in your heart to make a donation to ARF’s Hope Fund to help these and other ARF animals like them?
ARF’s Hope Fund helps pay for veterinary and other special needs of animals rescued by ARF's rescue patrol. Helping these abandoned animals is an important part of ARF's mission. Although the expense may be cost prohibitive for these ARF shelter guests, the transformation is nothing short of a miracle. Only through your generous donations can ARF continue this life-enriching work.

Tinkerbelle is a delightful Australian Shepherd Mix who is just over a year old. She doesn't let her visual impairment slow her down and has a great time in playgroups with other dogs. Tinkerbelle is intelligent and lively and would thrive in an active home. She is available to homes with children 10 years and older.
Luigi is a 10-year-old male Chihuahua mix with a low grade heart murmur. Additionally, the initial x-rays of his chest showed a mild increase in heart size. Luigi has back pain and is on anti-inflammatory and pain medications which he may require for the remainder of his life. Luigi should be adopted by an adults-only household where he can lose weight.
Mario is a 10-year-old male Chihuahua mix with back pain. Mario is also on anti-inflammatories and needs to lose weight in an adults-only household.
SPECIAL NEEDS FELINES
Available Now for Adoption!
Salty is a 3-year-old male domestic short hair with FIV and a tripod. He had a luxated elbow that was not repairable and as such, the leg was amputated. Salty is an affectionate guy who loves to cuddle. As with any feline testing positive for FIV, Salty should live in an only-cat household or with other FIV positive cats.
5-month-old Chaz is a beautiful Domestic Medium Hair Silver Mackeral Tabby who is missing her rear foot. She was either born this way or had an accident prior to being rescued by ARF. She gets along just fine but will definitely need to be an indoor cat. Chaz is gentle and social, enjoys playing and snuggling and she is good with other cats.
Additional FIV Positive Felines
Zsa Zsa is a lovely 3-year-old female calico who likes to lounge. She likes attention, but mostly appreciates it on her own terms. Zsa Zsa has tested positive for FIV and should live in an only-cat household or with other FIV positive cats.
True Love is a 3-year-old female domestic long hair. True Love is a sweet soul looking for her true love. True Love has tested positive for FIV and should live in an only-cat household or with other FIV positive cats.
Tootsie is a 3-year old female domestic short hair tuxedo cat who tested positive for FIV. She is a sweet girl who loves attention.
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
FIV is a virus in the same family of viruses as Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). FIV is a cat-only disease and people cannot catch FIV from their cats. FIV is only spread between cats by bite wounds and blood transfusions. FIV cannot be spread casually - unless an FIV kitty bites another cat, the virus cannot spread. There is no reason cats with FIV should not be in loving homes. FIV cats can often live long and normal lives. Some cats live a long time with this virus, often with no symptoms at all. FIV cats have a lot to offer a family and should not prevent a delightful feline from coming into a loving home.
